Bridget Carey from the Miami Herald reviews the Jitterbug J cell phone with her 60 send videos series.

Check out her review below.

and Bridget’s Miami Herald blog post about the Jitterbug J.

According to Bridget, the phones best features are the dial tone when you open it, the yes no buttons, the 24 hour operator and the 20 pre-written text messages.

The worst feature is the volume control, which is a bit hard to use.

Now, the Jitterbug cell phone was designed as a senior cell phone, but its a great phone for anyone who does not want or need cameras, mp3 players or radios.

Did Bridget have to go to the bathroom when she did this Jitterbug phone review or is she always that hyper?

If Jitterbug is so simple do use, how come in 60 seconds you never gave any of the details about why Jitterbug is “so simple?” In 60 seconds you could not explain what we “older citizens” really want to know. You went on-and-on about contracts versus no contracts and all “the bad features” of other companies.

The dial tone at the start is nice. Seniors THEN want to dail the d— thing. Not answer a whole bunch of questions like the “third degree.” My current phone brings up all the things a senior has no interest in – Choice One – get your messages. Hey, I am a senior – no one sends me messages. Choice Two – edit and adjust the ten thousand CONTACTS in your data base. Hey, I am a senior, not a teenager.

Is there really a cell phone that is not designed with teen agers in mind? I thought it was we seniors that were “in charge of the world.”

There is a new alternative to the Jitterbug called the Just 5. It has all the features seniors need with none of the features that they don’t need. It’s a contract-free phone that works with any service provider that uses SIM cards which means you don’t need to switch service providers, just pop out the SIM card in your old phone and pop it into the Just 5 and you’re good to go. It has large buttons for ease of use and volume that is loud enough to be heard without interfering with any hearing aid devices. The screen displays the numbers and menus in large, easy to see text. One other important feature is the SOS button located on the back of the phone for emergencies. When pressed, the SOS button sends out a text message to up to 4 preset numbers saying that there is an emergency. Then it calls those numbers until someone answers and when they do it switches to speaker phone mode. A great feature to have, if you ask me. More information can be found here: http://www.just5.com
